John Lawton, as the firm's technical expert and scientific adviser,
brings years of experience in the life science and software/IT industry.
John was a graduate student in Todd Wipke's Automated Molecular Design
Group in the 90's and worked as a software engineer during the dot com era.
John and his group were the recipients of Popular Science Magazine's "Best
of What's New" award for their automated design software
"INVENTON," which was the first computer program to be a awarded a
patent for a molecule designed by it.
In 2005, John was also the recipient of NASA's Inventions and
Contributions Board award for his collaborative work on developing the first
genetic algorithm that has been used to optimize molecules, antennas, and
electrical circuits. John works as an independent software developer as
well as acting as a technical advisor in biotechnology and software
technologies with the firm.
